Ever since she was little, food has always been on Judy’s mind. It couldn’t be helped; she was surrounded by it at her parent’s deli. Louie’s Deli in Sausalito, CA. became one of Judy’s playgrounds. Since age 10, Judy’s mother helped her embrace food; not just for taste, but all that it had to offer. Analyzing recipes for fat and calories, developing new salad recipes and even baking all helped form Judy’s love for food and nutrition.
Judy graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor in Science in Food and Nutrition and completed an accredited dietetic internship at Utah State University.
As a Registered Dietitian for the past 3 years, Judy’s focus was on clinical nutrition. Nutritional support for high risk patients with diabetes, heart disease and kidney ailments became one of her specialties. Another was children’s weight loss. Judy was the dietitian for Kidshape; a program piloted by Kaiser Permanente to help overweight children and their parents understand and actively use nutrition in everyday life.
Judy is also active in speaking with high school athletes about sports nutrition as well as working with clients at a private Tae Bo studio in Vallejo, California.
Nutrition in action is another of Judy’s passions. Always athletic, she combines her nutritional knowledge with training for that competitive edge. Judy has competed in 5Ks, 10Ks, and 2 triathlons plus the Wildflower triathlon. Aside from running, swimming, soccer, boot camp, rollerblading, tennis and Tae Bo, Judy actually likes the kitchen! She enjoys cooking, baking and decorating cakes.
